St Andrews is at the heart of Talbot's conservation cluster, which is one of the most significant precincts of any modestly-sized Australian gold village remaining from the 1860s. The surrounding buildings include the sub-treasury, police quarters, bluestone lock-up and stables, post and telegraph office and the original court house, together with its later - and larger - replacement.

St Andrews is only a step away from Talbot's museum, tennis courts, bowling greens, swimming pool, the Court House Hotel/Motel and Quince Farm Cafe at London House (licensed), which is open from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm from Wednesday to Sunday plus public holidays.

For a village that has survived the peaks and troughs of gold rushes, population drifts, depression, drought and devastating bushfires, Talbot is still home to Victoria's only private astronomical observatory, a fascinating museum, a fine art gallery, an antiquarian bookshop and one of the state's most successful farmers' markets.
